Direction from Oroville, CA

For anyone approaching Bucks Lake from the south, west or anywhere on I5 will probably find the best route will be though Oroville, CA located on HWY 70. In Oroville, take Exit 46 (Oro Dam Blvd/CA-149) and turn East towards town. If you are spacially challenged, you should drive right in front of the Walmart.

1.7 miles later, turn right on Olive Highway/CA-162. Just stay on that road as it winds through Oroville and it will take you right to the Bucks Lake Camp turn off, 46.4 miles later. That should take normal drivers about an hour from Oroville – considerably less if you have ever considered painting giant numbers on the side of your car or enter the driver’s seat through a window.

The large wood sign is visible from the road and it situated on a tight turn to the right, so you should be going slow enough to not pass it. The camp is down that dirt road on the left aways.

Hint: if you start to see the lake on the left side, you are probably a half mile past the turnoff.

Directions from Quincy, CA

If you are coming over the mountains anyway, driving though Quincy is your best bet.

Take the Oroville Quincy Highway out of Quincy following the signs to Bucks Lake. That road is at the west end of W. Main Street that runs the length of Quincy. That road will take you right to Bucks Lake.

At 8.7 miles, you will be asked to take a fork in the road. They both go to Bucks Lake, but take the left one anyway.

9.2 miles later you will pass a green fire house on your right. The next right hand turn should be yours in another 1.1 miles. The turn is situated on a part of the road that runs sharply left away from the lake. So, turn right down the long dirt road and you will find the camp directly.

The whole trip from Quincy is about 40 minutes.
